Gospel Choir Destination Weddings: Anna and Dave in Guernsey!
Two very special people, two very special families, one very happy gospel choir and one gorgeous wedding! Anna and Dave are true music fans, often coming over to England to see their favourite artists in concert. We took it as a massive compliment that they chose us for their wedding as they really know their music!
Flashmob surprise entry!
Anna and Dave had managed to keep our performance a secret from 99% of the guests, even the bridal party, for a surprise that no one will ever forget. We positioned ourselves amongst the guests with our cordless mics and waited for the final cue from the registrar. The opening song was our You Got The Love - Never Too Much medley, perfectly setting the tone of the wedding. One lovely thing for me is following our clients back on social media and getting a glimpse into their lives before and after the big day. I can honestly say the love between Anna and Dave is the type that causes other people to be jealous! They honour and celebrate one another constantly, it’s delightful.
The bridal party entrance
After our second song, Diamonds, it was time to welcome the bridal party. Anna and Dave commissioned us to arrange Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars especially for this moment. As each bridesmaid walked from the house down the aisle, they handed Dave a tissue, fully expecting him to blub, ha! It was such a cool moment. See a li’l clip of us rehearsing below and an impromptu singalong in St Peter Port after the wedding!
The processional: incorporating your individuality
Being massive Loyle Carner fans, Anna walked down the aisle to his song Loose Ends featuring Jorja Smith. It evoked an incredible atmosphere. Obviously it was contemporary, groovy, cool but also vulnerable, beautiful, like everything was happening in slow motion. It’s so important to incorporate your individuality in to your wedding, and sometimes playing the original is what is needed rather than getting the band to cover it.
Signing the register - who says you can’t dance at a wedding?
During the signing of the register, we performed Came Here For Love by Sigala and Ella Eyre, followed by Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours by Stevie Wonder. It’s still my absolute favourite, no matter how many times I sing it. The guests got up to dance with us as our cordless microphones allowed us to roam down the aisle and get them involved. Who said you can’t have dancing in a wedding ceremony? Here’s a short of us singing Signed, Sealed, Delivered at a more recent wedding.

Walking out and the drinks reception - honouring your heritage
A confetti line ended the ceremony to the soundtrack of Higher and Higher and the newly weds danced with friends and family straight in to the drinks reception. We started our set with three hymns to honour Anna’s faith growing up, and her Christian family. This part was super important to them considering that you can’t have any religious content in a civil ceremony.
We sang Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art and Oh Happy Day before heading into a upbeat dancey set. Check out the newly-weds leading the dancing in this short of Ain’t Nobody!
We enjoyed a fab night out in St Peter Port after the wedding… being great friends, it is such a treat getting to hang out properly for an evening and the next day. We enjoyed the spa at St Pierre Park Hotel thanks to the generosity of Anna and Dave (which was even more of a treat for me after over a year of sleep deprivation with my youngest child). God is good!
I hope you’ve found some good ideas to inspire your wedding planning here, and if you’re thinking of a destination wedding… Guernsey is great shout! Get in touch if you have any questions, we’re here to help! I’ll finish up with another impromptu sing from our evening in St. Peter Port of Late Night Talking by Harry Styles. Enjoy.
