We are BBC Gospel Choir of the Year Finalists 2015!

We were delighted to be chosen as finalists for BBC Gospel Choir of the Year 2015.

Tune into Songs of Praise on BBC 1 on Sunday August 30th and Sunday September 6th to see how we get on!

We’re the smallest choir in the competition with just six of us, but we think small is beautiful! The dynamic David Grant is hosting the show, with Connie Fisher (better known as Maria from The Sound Of Music as his side kick. Three gospel connoisseurs are judging; Premier Gospel’s Muyiwa Olarewaju as head judge, Pop Idol’s Carrie Grant and Holby City’s Sharon D Clarke.

We’re the only choir to be performing a medley; there were too many great gospel songs to pick from so we decided to mash together three into one. Using ‘Jesus Loves Me’ (remember that one from The Bodyguard?) as a base, we move into ‘What A Friend We Have In Jesus’ and then into rugby favourite, ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’.

Our second song is a classic from Hillsong Church in Australia called ‘Oceans’. This is a favourite across many churches in the UK, US, Europe, Australasia and no doubt across the world. It’s the first time a gospel choir has used this song and we think we did a brilliant job making it our own.

Let us know what you think of our performances on the night but tweeting and instagramming us @GetGospel or posting on our facebook page. May the best choir win!BBC Gospel Choir of The Year Finalists 2015
