Who are we?
Get Gospel formed officially in 2010 after three years of singing together in different guises, and being great friends. We love all things gospel, soul and jazz, and we all write original music too, bringing our different backgrounds, culture and personalities into one large Get Gospel melting pot. Our entire repertoire is positive in content, whether it be an old spiritual like ‘Wade In The Water’, a new gospel tune like ‘I Smile’, or a Motown classic like ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’. We deliciously mix together old and new music for all types of audiences, whether it be at a wedding, party or festival.
Meet the girls...
Jules Rendell is Get Gospel's founder and one of their arrangers. She is a songwriter and artist in her own right and is currently recording her third solo release. You can find her on iTunes and YouTube and more than likely at a gig drinking champagne or tea and eating cake.
Emily Holligan is a phenomenal session vocalist, having worked all over the world with artists such as Blur, Mel C, Plan B and the great Stevie Wonder himself - not that our humble Emily would tell you herself!
Bianca Rose is a talented singer-song writer and guitarist with a soul-folk style impossible to ignore. Her EP 'Truths and Tiny Tragedies' gained her much attention and will shortly be followed by her first album. Watch one of her mesmorising performances on YouTube.
Loretta Andrews is a radio presenter and producer on Premier Christian Radio, mother to Ru, creator of the More Than A Mum blog and as if she has any more time on her hands, one third of pop band Sugarfoot! Buy their new EP 'Taste' on iTunes.
Mary Santo is a petite girl with a big voice! We're very much missing Mary's deep, soulful tones that usually fill our alto section due to a jaw injury that's keeping Mary out of action for the time being. We're praying for a swift recovery and return to us!
Antoinette Harrison is a singer, actor and dancer having worked with the Royal Opera House, in the Olympics opening ceremony and Paralympics closing ceremony and the Edinburgh Festival. Watch Antoinette in Get Gospel's live performance on Premier Radio.
Meet the guys...
James Philip is a songwriter, producer, proud father and incredible vocalist who has worked with the likes of Tony Momrelle, Kelly Rowland and Jocelyn Brown. Most recently he has been touring the country in a Ratpack show impressing crowds as Sammy Davies Jr and we're glad to have him as our lead tenor in Get Gospel. Click to hear his songs and watch on YouTube.
Matt Featherstone is a professional flautist by day and super funky singer, beatboxer and arranger by night! Matt grew up in France and moved to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he became a fellow. He is now principal flute of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales but still has time to sing with us, along with Shlomo and his vocal orchestra. Visit his MySpace to sample his amazing style.
Kwabena Adjepong is a rising star who recently sung before Prince Harry at Buckingham Palace in the BBC's documentary 'Goldie's Band By Royal Appointment'. Currently studying jazz at the Royal Academy of Music, he's someone you'll definitely be hearing more of in the coming years.
Kenny Temowo started his singing career performing with the Shekinah singers and Riversongz. He's a bit of a musical genius and shares his many musical gems as a teacher in south London, as well as gracing Bianca Rose's performances on guitar. Well, he would have to, seen as she's his wife! Check out his low notes on this Get Gospel video.
Pete Billington is a multi instrumentalist, composer, arranger, musical director and general fantastic man. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music and is most known for his presence on the London jazz scene playing piano and double bass with Clark Tracey, Zoe Rahman, Ben Castle, and the Pendulum Jazz Orchestra. Along with his own trio and octet and touring with the likes of Michael Ball, we wonder he has time to play with us and arrange some of our tunes!
|"All our guests commented on how amazing you all were and how stunning your voices are. I can't wait to see the DVD just to hear you again!"
